5 Questions with… Courtney Bills
April 26, 2019

Since the very beginning, Tactive has believed that quality, can-do, above & beyond service is the reason our clients choose us over our competitors. And our employees are the best at making sure our clients print & promo projects are top notch. In this employee spotlight series, we take some time to get to know them a little better.

Say, “Hi”, to Courtney Bills!

Courtney brought her comprehensive experience in the promotional product industry to the Tactive team in early 2019. As a Senior Account Director, Courtney works with Tactive’s enterprise accounts on all things print and promo. Let’s get to know Courtney!

1. What are three words that best describe you?

Challenging, Inquiring, Loving

2. What does a typical day at Tactive look like for you?

I’m not sure you can put Tactive and typical in the same sentence. This company is far from the workings of any “typical” company I know of…..in the best way of course. What starts as typical quickly turns A-typical, and that keeps every day challenging, fun and interesting. The day starts with a warm cup of coffee and a walk-through to say hello. It’s very important to find out what everyone has done in the 15 hours since we’ve all seen each other. Then comes the standing morning meeting with my Inbox. That’s when it gets exciting.

Working with the Salesforce team, we never know what new request is sitting in there waiting for Tactive to bring alive. From that point on, variability grows and the day starts to take shape. Product research (only the latest and greatest), project estimating, video conferences, purchasing, scheduling, invoicing, socializing, and loving on Indy swirl around like a tornado creating the Tactive perfect storm. Like a good storm chaser, I am continuing to learn the ins and out of our industry while also adapting to modern-day business lingo.

Did you know when someone wants to “hop on a call”, they are not talking about the phone anymore? They are requesting a video conference, so hair and makeup must always be on par. Between bubbling up, circling back, deciding to pivot, pinging people, taking topics off-line, and realigning with verticals, I just never know where the day will go next. One thing that is consistent is that the days go by fast, the fridge is always stocked, and laughter can always be heard echoing throughout the office.

3. Before working at Tactive, what was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had?

I worked for Fowler Catering and one portion of the business was providing airline catering to the private jets at the Indianapolis Airport. The pilots, airline hangers, flight crews, and private planes are very intriguing! NBA teams definitely travel in style.

4. If you could interview one person (dead or alive) who would it be?

That’s an easy one! I would interview my older brother who passed away when I was in high school. Since he’s been up in heaven for 20 years, he would already have found out all of the answers to our current world and post-life questions. And, I’d get to see him again.

5. What is your favorite thing to do in Indy?

Ride bikes to events downtown with my husband and kids.

Bonus Question: Share something interesting about you!

Disclaimer: these are all facts. Let’s talk about personal life! My two kids (Kade and Chase) are hands down the smartest, cutest, sweetest, funniest, most athletic well behaved kids ever. My husband (JD) is the most handsome, most talented, and most supportive person in the whole wide world, and my parents (John and Susan)…..well they must have been heaven-sent because they have truly taught me the meaning of unconditional love. If it weren’t for all of them and my faith, I would not be Courtney. Plain and simple.

Thanks, Courtney! Do you need help with your next print and promo piece? Say, “Hi!” We’re ready to make your next project your best yet.
