5 Questions with… George Helton
May 27, 2021

Since the very beginning, Tactive has believed that our quality, can-do attitude, and above & beyond service is the reason our clients choose us over our competitors. And our employees are the best at making sure our clients’ print & promo projects are top-notch. In this employee spotlight series, we take some time to get to know George a little better.

Say “Hi” to George Helton!

Previously an intern for Tactive in 2010, George rejoined the team in early 2021 and works remotely from Orlando, Florida.  George has expansive knowledge with promotional products and knows the best way to get you exactly what you’re looking for. Let’s get to know George!

1. What are three words that best describe you?

Loyal, Analytical, Sarcastic (sometimes to a fault).

2. What does a typical day at Tactive look like for you?

At the time of answering these questions, I’m still new to the Tactive crew. So, a typical day at Tactive for me consists, mostly, of figuring out what a typical day at Tactive looks like for me.

I interned at and worked for Tactive back in the Print Resources days and have always loved the company and the people. I’m very excited to continue to learn from everyone here and, in turn, help the company continue to grow.

3. Before working at Tactive, what was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had?

During my senior year in High School, I worked for a telemarketing firm – yes, I was one of those people. Between the multiple calls that ended with a loud bang of a phone slamming in my ear (cell phones weren’t really a thing back then); I got to talk to some very interesting people with wild stories they would make up to “torture” the evil telemarketer. I loved hearing the random, off-the-cuff, ramblings they would come up with – college kids are so creative. Having to memorize the disclaimer for the end of a successful call (like the person telling you the side effects at the end of a prescription drug commercial) turned into a great party trick too! I could rattle off those 3 single spaced pages of information in under 20 seconds and with just one breath.

4. If you could interview one person (dead or alive) who would it be?

I would interview my dad. He had a crazy life and loved to tell everyone stories about all the wild things he did as a teenager. He passed away in early 2020 and I regret not having him write down his tales of fun adventures, epic travels, and troublemaking before he passed.

5. What is your favorite thing to do in Indy?

I currently live in Orlando, FL where my favorite thing to do is to NOT go to theme parks. When I lived in Indy, I loved to go out to all the great restaurants, shout out to Sawasdee (sadly, no longer in business), going to First Fridays in Fountain Square, and hanging out with friends on Mass Ave. Email me at ghelton@tactive.cc for suggestions on cool or must do things when I’m back in town.

Bonus Question: Share something interesting about you!

I’m a nerd. I love video games, board games, card games, sci-fi/fantasy shows and movies, comics, superheroes, and anime. I wanted to be Storm from the X-Men when I grew up. Sadly, in my late 30’s, I’m not yet a weather controlling Kenyan goddess but I am starting to get white hair, so I still have hope.

Thanks, George! Do you need help with your next print and promo piece? Say “Hi!” We’re ready to make your next project your best yet.
