Since the very beginning, Tactive has believed that quality, can-do, above & beyond service is the reason our clients choose us over our competitors. And our employees are the best at making sure our clients print & promo projects are top-notch. In this employee spotlight series, we take some time to get to know them a little better.
Say, “Hi”, to Ruby Porter!
One of the newest members of the Tactive team, Ruby manages pre-press design. Believe it or not, even the best print files often need some tweaking before being sent to production. Ruby’s creativity and artistic ingenuity help ensure every print piece looks great before it hits the press. Let’s get to know Ruby!
1. What are three words that best describe you?
Adventurous. Curious. Innovative.
2. What does a typical day at Tactive look like for you?
‘Typicality’ and Tactive don’t always go hand in hand. My days follow a similar and consistent pattern, but I seldom know exactly what to expect. While I do manage some accounts, my main job is to be a ‘liaison’ of sorts between the CSRs and the print team. I take the files provided, verify they are set up correctly for print, adjust them if they are not, and work with Eric to schedule projects appropriately. I frequently get to be creative and design a piece or incorporate new elements like the metallic specialty color options available with the Xerox Iridesse. I am challenged and learn more every day, but I love that about my job. It keeps me on my toes and growing both personally and professionally… and it’s a lot of fun.
3. Before working at Tactive, what was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had?
I have not held many jobs since graduating from Millikin University in 2016, but my most interesting job was probably the summer I spent in Michigan as a Unit Counselor at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp. I spent three months in the woods with a bunch of elementary, middle, and high schoolers and helped teach them art. It was awesome.
4. If you could interview one person (dead or alive) who would it be?
Ansel Adams. I have always been so intrigued by his work and amazed at his sense of humanity.
5. What is your favorite thing to do in Indy?
I love to spend time in Broad Ripple with friends or bike the canal, and I’ve recently been getting more into the trails and parks that can be found around our green city.
Bonus Question: Share something interesting about you!
As a result of one of our Friday afternoon hangouts in the office, my husband and I have started teaching our cats tricks. We have three cats, one of which has excelled at them. He has learned ‘sit,’ ‘shake,’ ‘high five,’ and ‘spin’. We are currently working on ‘roll over.’ I’m hoping to one day have a whole arsenal of cat tricks up my sleeve.
Thanks, Ruby! Do you need help with your next print and promo piece? Say, “Hi!” We’re ready to make your next project your best yet.
