The Challenge:
Sometimes, even the chattiest salespeople hold their cards too close to their chest.
For Dreamforce, Salesforce’s annual user conference, the planning team wanted to allow their “Salesblazers” to connect more naturally with one another – something that could break the ice and get people sharing real stories from the field.
The concept: “Cursing to Closing,” a sales-themed card game designed to prompt conversations around the highs and lows of selling, from deals gone sideways to big wins. Featured at the Dreamforce Sales Lodge, the game needed to feel approachable, engaging, and easy to jump into.
But bringing that concept to (real) life required the right production approach. The game needed to feel retail-like, hold up to many hands, and reflect the quality of the Salesforce brand – all while functioning as a seamless, ready-to-play experience.
The Solution:
As Salesforce’s print partner, Tactive focused on elevating both the look and longevity of the game. To achieve a true high-end, retail-quality feel, we had an ace up our sleeve: we sourced the custom box through an external partner. The specialized vendor meant we could add advanced finishes like a sleek magnetic closure, plus soft-touch laminate and holographic foiling that leveled up the entire deck.
The cards themselves were produced in-house by Tactive with durability in mind: printed on heavy cover stock and finished with a matte UV coating, then die-cut with rounded corners to withstand continuous play throughout Dreamforce and beyond.
The impact didn’t stop at the event. Additional decks were distributed to Salesforce’s internal teams, and they returned to reorder for future activations – proving that sometimes, the most effective sales deck… is an actual deck. Of cards. Get it?
