Project Spotlight: Tactive Baseball Invitations
August 14, 2025

The Challenge:

Client appreciation is a core part of Tactive’s sales and marketing strategy. One of the ways we show our gratitude is by inviting select clients to enjoy an evening at Victory Field, watching our hometown team, the Indianapolis Indians. And we never pass up a chance at a good hot dog!

But as anyone in sales knows, coordinating client outings during the summer is tough. Calendars fill up fast, OOO replies are constant, and inboxes are totally packed. Getting a timely response was tougher than expected, and we were missing opportunities to get clients in the seats we paid for.

Relying on email alone to invite our top customers often meant slow replies, missed messages, and wasted tickets. Our reps were spending too much time following up – and not enough time closing deals or building relationships.

It was time for a better game plan.

The Solution:

Instead of sending another email into the void, we created a bold, physical invitation that couldn’t get lost in the email sauce: a die-cut baseball-shaped card, tucked inside a bright red envelope. Each invite was personalized with the recipient’s company name for an added VIP touch and included a QR code linking directly to a landing page where they could easily claim tickets.

The entire piece was designed to make it ridiculously easy (and fun) for clients to say “yes.” And it worked! We saw a clear uptick in scans, clicks, and confirmed attendees – leading to 20+% higher ticket usage compared to the previous season. That’s fewer wasted seats, more happy customers, and more value from our season ticket investment.

But to be honest, we weren’t surprised! USPS research shows that combining digital and direct mail can drive:

– Up to 40% conversion rates
– 68% more website visits
– 60% higher ROI

In a digital world, a printed piece still commands attention. When you combine that physical presence with smart digital strategy, like QR codes and landing pages, you unlock a marketing double play that’s hard to beat.
